Neurologic Impairment in Neonates Due to Hypoglycemia

Hypoglycemia is common in neonates, but still very treatable. It can cause neurologic impairment in severe cases, but the effects of mild hypoglycemia on neurologic development are still unclear.

The Children with Hypoglycaemia and Their Later Development (CHYLD) study examined the relationship between severity of low glucose levels in neonates and the neurologic development after 2 years.

The findings of the CHYLD study are summarized in the video.
