Strontium for Osteoporosis

Dominika Zarzeczny, BSc, ND, Clinical Director at NutriChem, discusses strontium and osteoporosis. The only strontium supplement shown to be effective for bone building is strontium ranelate, which is currently not available in the United States or Canada. Patients may sometimes ask if they should be taking strontium citrate, but Zarzeczny notes that there is not a lot of evidence supporting strontium citrate for building bone. Instead, she encourages patients to obtain strontium from their diets by eating seafood, poultry and wheat germ.
