HDL Cholesterol and Risk for Cardiovascular Disease

HDL is a complex issue in cardiovascular medicine. It is not currently a target of therapy, even though there is a known inverse relationship between HDL and risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD).

There have been many recent clinical trials that have tried to raise HDL to lower CVD risk with statins, but all had negative results.
